a team of magical girls, each granted powers based on their obscure music genre of choice
but no can you imagine like
the main char who’s p much a giant nerd who plays vidya and knows nothing about music just that she likes video game music except she discovers her powers based on 8bit and gets recruited into the team
at first she’s the weakest of them all w/ her powers being p much basic pew pew lasers but she’s fast and doesn’t need a lot of windup before she can go at it and that’s really important because her teammates need her to distract the enemy to buy time for them to compose their melodies
(and then she discovers her latent powers to p much emulate the abilities from any video game whose ost she’s memorized)
then there’s the classical chick whose weapon is a conductor’s baton and you’d think she’d abhor fighting and be all elegant and shit when really she just revels in epic orchestras and is tossing everyone into walls w/ the beat of the drum and there’s just so much violins (lol pun) when she’s involved
also the strategist who doesn’t really fight which is fine b/c her analyzing is bomb, but then when the battle gets serious she just spends half the time standing around on the sidelines posing or w/e and 8bit’s freaking out b/c ‘wow we’re getting our asses kicked here what do you think you’re doing’
but then classic goes ‘now!’ after luring the opponent into position and the bass just fucking /drops/ and suddenly the brainy tactician is just battering and pounding away w/ dubstep
i like you
this is the most perfect thing
Oh god this would be amazing… ooh and what if there was a chick who could split herself / magically clone herself and does a capella and epic chanting/chorus stuff to the other’s music?
At first it’s just identical copies of herself, so her range/whatever is limited, but then she slowly starts to learn how to “tap into the power of music” (or whatever) and starts creating “clones” who can sing at a higher / lower range then she can.
But then they are fighting a super-bad guy, who is just obliterating the team and this girl has the perfect song, but she needs a male voice to make it work… So she all but knocks herself out but manages to make a male “clone” of herself… but —unlike her usual clones— he doesn’t vanish after the battle, is solid (her usual clones are only solid if they land punches/kicks while using music to give them force) and has a will of his own.
So basically the girl has just created her own twin brother and now the group has to figure out what the hell to do with him cause he doesn’t have a birth certificate or any paperwork… or a place to stay or money or anything.
He ends up being the Tuxedo Mask of the group, except that he kinda fails at working on his own (hey, he was ‘born’ out of the need for a singing partner, so what’s he supposed to do?) so the group usually ends up saving him instead.
Oh and although he’s physically male he only has his “sister’s” memories so you can have fun with that and have a cool character arc where he’s trying to figure out what “his” gender really is.
(Oh and forgive any mistakes I made reguarding how a capella / vocal stuff works. I am only a causal listener to the genre.)
